PERFORM IN THE SHOW OR WORK BACKSTAGE
"London's Turbulent Son" is a brand new site specific professional show which takes its inspiration from an actual 1519 Becket Pageant. In keeping with this spirit, we have gathered a talented ensemble of actors/singers, drawn from the City of London community, to perform alongside the professional cast.
We are also seeking a supporting chorus of up to 16 experienced singers (all voices).
Experienced volunteers also welcome for backstage support
For more information on performing or backstage support please contact Emmeline Winterbotham, Creative Director at becketpageant@gmail.com
COSTUME MAKING
The Costume Team are working with members of the City of London community, including residents, members of City based companies to help create some of the costumes. Sewing Bees are being organised in City locations during the Spring 2022. Professional Costume Designer Sasha Keir is leading The Sewing Bee sessions, which are intended to be fun and sociable and an opportunity to learn new crafting skills. No previous experience is required. For the more confident sewers, there will be an opportunity to work with the Costume Designer in her Shoreditch studio.
GIANT PUPPET MAKING
There will also be an opportunity to work on the creation of a giant puppet, representing the Spirit of London, inspired by your ideas, under the direction of a specialist puppet theatre company, which will parade in the show’s finale.
OTHER VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
There will be opportunities for members of the Square Mile community to become involved through stewarding, front of house, publicity support and general volunteering. We will be distributing information through libraries, residents’ groups, churches, school PTAs etc.
Stewarding and Front of House training supplied May/June 2022
To register interest in costume or puppet making, stewarding or general support please contact: Barbara Tysome, becketpageantcommunity@gmail.com
